The English version can be found through the following link: [Photos]. From now on, I prefer to use the photo account for reports in English language and this blog for reports in my mother tongue!

On a hot Saturday morning, we went by train to Magdeburg where a tournament of the cycle ball world cup was scheduled in the Hermann-Gieseler-Halle, that is usually used for handball and basketball matches. The under-aged teams of SC Magdeburg - the famous handball club - usually play their matches in that old market hall. It is one of Germany’s oldest and most beautiful sports halls.

As usual on Fridays, we watched an old boys’ match (over-35), this time TSV Leuna took on SV Wallendorf. Actually I expected the match to be played in the Stadium of Peace (Stadion des Friedens), but it was played at the Sports Ground of the Youth (Sportstätte der Jugend). No problem though, we arrived right to the kick-off, but Leuna did not hang about: we could not even take a seat under the roof before Leuna scored their first goal. In the last match of them we watched, Leuna needed an hour to score. In the next 15 minutes, Leuna showed really good playing skills - especially compared to other seniors’ teams - and scored twice, while Wallendorf did their best and wasted some chances. Leuna scored a fourth goal before the break.

As last Saturday, we made our way to Halle. Before we entered any football ground, I had to buy a new camera due to the mechanical damage that occurred without any visible reason the day before. I purchased a Fujifilm Finepix S2000 for 259€. Good price, hopefully good quality. I couldn’t test that camera right after the bargain due to lack of loaded batteries. But my old camera was still able to take pictures, unless I didn’t choose 2.5x or 3.5x zoom.
Statistics:
The first thing we did when we arrived in Halle, was buying the overpriced tickets for the cup final of Saxony-Anhalt (Landespokal Sachsen-Anhalt). 18€ for good seats. 18€ for comfortable seats in a covered, modern stadium? O.K.! But 18€ for semi-professional footballers? Rip-off! And those shit heads from Magdeburg did not sell reduced tickets to the shop in Halle.

This time we travelled more kilometres by train than by bike, but the bike route wasn’t too short. After we arrived at Schönebeck, a town several kilometres south of Magdeburg, we jumped off the train and made our way by bike. First, we had a look at the few sights of that town that doesn’t deserve its name meaning probably “beautiful stream/ creek” - that stream is a big river (Elbe) and that town isn’t beautiful nor is the river in particular. Among the sights are some architectural details at some private homes and a church that changed its outfit so often, that you have a mixture of several architectural styles now.
After our arrival in Magdeburg, we ate something in our favourite Turkish restaurant, and then rode to the sports hall “Bördelandhalle” were SC Magdeburg faced Stralsunder HV. SC Magdeburg struggles for the international positions, while Stralsund is already relegated. And so did they play. Stralsund was so weak, that there is no need to describe the match with many words. That team is a caricature of a professional handball team. A laugher! They should be relegated to Kreisliga!
We made our way trough the congested traffic of Halle - that’s the only thing, why Halle can be called a big city: that fucking traffic! - to the northeast of the city. In that part of the city, Halle is very rural. Unpaved roads, trees, meadows and between small houses and allotment gardens, there is an unspectacular football ground. You will miss the entrance if you don’t know it, because it looks like an entrance to one of the gardens.

My dad went on a business trip early that morning - right after our aforementioned tour to the Czech Republic - so the new ground in Halle was to be done alone.
Statistics:
Early in the morning we took the train from Halle to Merseburg at first, then ate a bite in the “Backwerk” and caught an overcrowded train from Halle to Hannover. We jumped off that bleeder in Halberstadt and made our way by bike and on foot through the old town. Halberstadt was almost totally destroyed in 1945 and neglected until 2003 or so, but today the old, frame-work houses and three main churches are real highlights. The surrounding modern buildings are not.

We caught the train from Halle to Erfurt in Merseburg and jumped off the overcrowded railway compartment for bicycles and prams in Bad Kösen. After just 1km we had the first steep hill upwards. Our first sightseeing spot was called Himmelreich (kingdom of heaven). From a spectacular mountain you overlook the valley of the river Saale and you will see two castles very close on the other mountain towards.

The 23rd match day of the 1st Volleyball Bundesliga, that match and another one remaining: VC Bad Dürrenberg/ Spergau had to mess with SC Charlottenburg from Berlin. VC BDS is ranked 8th, while SCC is ranked 2nd. Although Bad Dürrenberg rocked Friedrichshafen and Haching that season, I expected a loss. When I took my seat in the hall which was well-stocked, I saw an excellent playing SCC and an inferior VC BDS. After 5 minutes were played, SCC lead by 1:8 points. 3:10, 4:13…
Statistics:
Half past ten in the morning, we took the train from Merseburg to Querfurt, saving a lot of money because of using the so-called “Hopper-Ticket.” Actually, it does not have to do with groundhopping, but sometimes it is helpful on groundhopping tours. The best about that ticket is, that you can ride up to 50km in one direction within your Bundesland - return included - for 6€ per Person. Merseburg - Querfurt - Merseburg costs one more than 9€, usually.
Few kilometres on to Allstedt there is another castle (pictured above that line), but we already visited it when we watched SV Allstedt for the first time last year. That’s why we immediately entered the roller hockey and tennis stadium.
The second match was faster, saw better technical skills and more goals, but you can expect such a performance: that is 2nd Bundesliga. Allstedt even played in the first level last year.
The way back was partially really hard, because the street from Allstedt to Allstedt airport - a shut-down Soviet military airbase - is exhausting due to the steep hill upwards for 4.5 km. But then it is not a long and hard way to Querfurt anymore. From Querfurt we took the train back to Merseburg.

We had so much time due to those unjustifiable match postponements that we could stop for a bite to eat in a quite good Chinese restaurant that offers nice dishes to reasonable prices, in Weißenfels. It was one of the very few facilities in Weißenfels which had open doors on 1 p.m. on that Saturday. That dirty town really is a village!
Then we went to the sports hall in Großkorbetha, a small village between Weißenfels and Leuna, for watching handball.
The first one of the two handball matches - TSV Großkorbetha II vs Friesen Frankleben III - was a match of the lowest division. But even compared to other matches of the Kreisklasse, it was really weak. So many mistakes and so lame, that even the referee had no problems in following the match. Luckily, the players threw some nice goals from time to time.
Further description is not needed here. That team at the bottom of the table that lost 13 matches in a row, lost a 14th match and that team ranked 3rd asserted its rank. Frankleben won 25:19.
The second match - TSV Großkorbetha vs Merseburger SV Buna Schkopau II - was just one level higher on paper, but three or four levels higher in view. It was fast paced and hard played right from the beginning, and although the players did not score so often, it was a great match. After 18 minutes, the result was just 4:3. But after Großkorbetha scored two more goals until minute 20, there were far more goals per minute scored, than before. 10:10 at half-time.
In the second half, the match was even better. Really, it was a thrilling match and of good quality. Großkorbetha used some shortcomings of Schkopau for scoring three goals. 15:12. After Schkopau almost equalised (15:14), the only player familiar to me - Ronny Block, an old school mate of mine, playing for Schkopau - was sent off due to harsh foul play. He was almost every minute in the match and did good work at the throwing circle, but one mistake - pulling an opponent down who was broken through the circle, directly in front of the goalkeeper - and he had the red card in front of his face. The only ridiculous decision made by the referees: the first referee, that one who had been quite close to the scene, sent Ronny off with a two-minute time penalty (that was absolutely justified!) but the second one ran to the scene from 25m behind and showed him the red card just after several fans of the hosting team shouted: “Sent him off! Show him the red card!” A handball-typical arbitrary decision.
But even the next lead of three goals was not enough for Großkorbetha. Schkopau equalised after they caught three goals in a row that led to a 20:17 lead for TSV 1893. The 20:20 equaliser was scored about 30 seconds before the end, and in a heated final phase, Schkopau maintained the draw.
Nonetheless, by the way, respect to the referees, that did not make more than one dubious decision. Especially the last minutes were difficult to manage. I just had liked if they had sent-off that provocateur from Großkorbetha with the number 6. If they show Ronny the red card for the shit he did, that guy had deserved his third two-minute time-penalty (that is also a sent-off for the rest of the match) after 48 minutes. All in all, he even deserved five time-penalties due to playing foul, bitching and provoking other players.
Other people who should be mentioned, are the fans. Well, two of them: the guy with the drum and that one with the horn. They were always supporting.
It has been another nice handball match and a deserved draw.
