Bordering Leipzig to the south, Markkleeberg is a small city in Saxony (about 24,000 inhabitants). There are no places of interest - but as in almost every city, there are few old or spectacular houses; here it’s the town hall and an estate - so we directly went to the stadium. There are two stadia, so naturally we arrived at the wrong one first, were no match was played. We asked the club’s restaurant’s hostess for the way to the stadium of the other club and she described the 2km ride to Sportpark Camillo Ugi, named after an Italian-German footballer of the early 20th century.

The admission fee was sauce: don’t know why that club at Leipzig’s arse end needs to demand the league tickets prices in a pre-season match. But that’s a typical Central-European way of rip-off. Strange enough, some of the drinks at the foodstall were dirt-cheap. Until half-time, the match was almost worth 4.50€ (3.50€ reduced ticket for students and some others), because Kickers Markkleeberg played a good style of football. Zwenkau shot on the goal twice and was inferior in all the other aspects of the match. In regular intervals, Markkleeberg scored with nice shots: among them a 20m hammer right beside the post.

In the second half, Zwenkau had one big effort on the goal, but the striker headed the ball over the near post. Markkleeberg’s greatest highlights in the second half were all work of Nico Breitkopf, former player of Sachsen Leipzig and Hallescher FC (useless and unsuccessful in both the clubs). Firstly, he scored a lovely goal by a wide-range shot into the corner; secondly he felt over Zwenkau’s Hitschke in the visiting team’s box and accused him of serious foul play. That - and Hitschkes reply - were the reasons, why that clean match saw two yellow cards, finally.

Full-time and Markkleeberg’s five goals to Zwenkau’s zero clearly showed the difference in the playing skills, not just depending on the different level.
