1st Volleyball Bundesliga
Result: 0:3 after 65 min.
Sets: 13-25, 17-25, 15-25 (45-75)
Sports hall: Jahrhunderthalle Spergau (cap. 1,200 seated)
Attendance: 900 (20 away fans)
Match quality: 4.5/10 (some nice scenes but extremely one-sided)
The 23rd match day of the 1st Volleyball Bundesliga, that match and another one remaining: VC Bad Dürrenberg/ Spergau had to mess with SC Charlottenburg from Berlin. VC BDS is ranked 8th, while SCC is ranked 2nd. Although Bad Dürrenberg rocked Friedrichshafen and Haching that season, I expected a loss. When I took my seat in the hall which was well-stocked, I saw an excellent playing SCC and an inferior VC BDS. After 5 minutes were played, SCC lead by 1:8 points. 3:10, 4:13…
The defeat was just a matter of time.
Clean and fair.
But the most important thing is: VC BDS managed to make their way to the play-offs, despite that defeat. In two weeks they will play their home match - and I’m curious on how the importance of that match will be reflected in the number and the support of the visitors.
