* N.B.: From this season on, I will use the following classification: 1. Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, 3. Bundesliga = professional divisions; Regionalliga and Oberliga (the two leagues are divided into several groups according to the geographical situation) = semi-professional divisions; and all the leagues beneath are amateur divisions. This classification is unofficial, but the German Football Mafia… excuse me: I meant German Football Federation, calls all the three leagues bearing the name “Bundesliga” officially “professional football leagues”. Those leagues from 6th level downward are called “amateur leagues” by the regional football associations of which there are 21 (some of the 16 German federal states are organised in more than one regional association) in Germany. But there are some obscurities concerning the status of the 4th and 5th level. And as if this wasn’t enough, there are still obscurities about some of the amateur divisions, because even some players of 6th or 7th level clubs are that well remunerated, that they have to pay tax on it. So even that division of which the match I will describe in the following was announced opening match, may contain of semi-professional players.
The skills that the players showed weren’t semi-pro though. After 10 minutes rain delay, an average amateur match went underway. Both teams were even and until the whistle for halftime, neither Stötteritz nor Lok were able to score. Nonetheless, SSV und 1. FC had some effort on the goal.
After the break, Lok became the better and dominant team. After only 10 minutes were played, Lok’s Ronny Mende scored the golden goal of that day. The final 10 minutes were the best of the entire match, with a lot of wasted chances, saves by the two goalkeepers and some emotions. Even in these 10 minutes, Lok had more scoring chances and actions taken than Stötteritz. That’s why we can say, that this victory by Lok Leipzig II – actually their under-23 team – was deserved.
Concerning the surroundings, I must say, that there were some funny fans. About six persons supported Stötteritz almost the whole game; one young adult – probably a wannabe-Ultra – another young adult, obviously mentally handicapped, and four small childen (perhaps of SSV’s under-10 team). The two older ones were the more active ones with a megaphone and a mobile which they used for playing football related music. The young kids screamed shrilly “SSV – Stötteritz” and tried to provoke players of Lok with remarks like: “Brush your tooth you Lok supporter!”
