The team we watched today has a very interesting background. BSG Chemie Leipzig - the former name, used in the GDR, of what is nowadays FC Sachsen Leipzig - is not a re-foundation of a renamed club, but a new foundation relating to the old club, Lok Leipzig’s all times rival.
The founders are outlawed and frustrated organised supporters of FC Sachsen Leipzig that want to fight for their ideas and ideals in that way. Maybe it is really the best way to show your dissatisfaction for commercialised professional football by founding an amateur team.
The project worked well in the past season: BSG Chemie dominated the 3. Stadtklasse Leipzig, the 12th and lowest level, by winning almost every match. Consequently, they gained promotion to level 11 (2. Stadtklasse).
Today, they had to play against a superior opponent who is well established in the 2nd amateur division. Nonetheless, Chemie was the better team in the first quarter of an hour. The first good scene of Stötteritz was used for scoring the very first goal. Two stupid mistakes in the defence later and Stötteritz added two more goals to their tally. Until half time, SSV scored twice again, so 0:5 was the far too high result after 45 minutes.
In the second half, Stötteritz scored three goals within 15 minutes. Chemie did not even have a single scoring chance during that time when Stötteritz showed why they are in the Bezirksliga. Deservedly, Chemie used their only chance between the 40th and 80th minute: Kevin Kieb scored the consolation goal.
1:8 was the final result. 150 fans watched that nice match - in regular season matches, Chemie is supported by up to 500 fans (an extraordinary high number in that division): Ultra style support of course! This time, the admission fee of 2€ was quite high, but nonetheless neither too high (their neighbouring club SpVgg 1899 are real hustlers), nor unjustified.
